We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but there are some mornings when we just don’t feel like fixing anything at all. Oatmeal is a great way to overcome this problem as it provides a lot of energy and keeps our thoughts away from food for several hours. However, it may become boring to have the same oatmeal every morning, so try some add-ons, just for fun, for example this divine caramellised apple sauce. Enjoy!

Vanilla oatmeal with caramellised apple ( serves 1)

  • 2 large apples, pealed, coared and diced
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 mug of oats (or a mixture, whaterver you love)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1.2 mug of milk

Put the diced apple into a small saucepan with the honey and the salt, and caramellise it over low heat for 15-20 minutes. Stir often.

In another small saucepan, boil the milk with the oats and vanilla. When it starts to bubble, lower the heat and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring regularly. Serve with the caramellised apples on top.
